Zorlu Energy, the investor of Pakistan’s first wind power plant, is adding another 200MW-project to the 100MW solar energy investment project it signed in the past few weeks. The goodwill agreement was signed at Çankaya Mansion with the participation of Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif as well as officials from both states. Attending the signing ceremony, Ahmet Zorlu, Chairman of Zorlu Holding said, “We are very pleased to grow our solar energy investments in Pakistan, the first country overseas market for our solar energy investments. We believe that solar is one of the most important energy sources of our future for us. Our new investment will energize our 100MW solar energy contract, which took place a few weeks after our application for the first and largest renewable energy application accepted by the Pakistani government in there years. With this investment, we plan to expand our Group’s commercial area to the region and reach our target growth as well as increase Turkey’s power in the region. In this regard, I wish both agreements bring benefit to both countries.”
“We aim to take our installed power to 300MW with our solar energy investments in Pakistan.”
Sinan Ak, Chairman of Zorlu Energy Group, said “We are taking an important step to add a new project in Pakistan after our Quaid-e-Azam project, which has installed capacity of 100MW we announced last month. In addition to being a friendly country, Pakistan is an important center for our renewable energy investments. Having implemented the first wind energy project in Pakistan, we are very pleased to have signed the reference projects in solar energy. Similarly, we aspire to take our installed solar energy power to 300MW in Pakistan with our investments thanks to our newly planned project in the Punjab province.”
Following its announcement last month, Zorlu Energy plans to kick off the Quaid-e-Azam project this year with 100MW installed power.
